AccuWeather is helpful, but always carry a jacket.

You'll also observe the rain starts around the same time of the day everyday and will gradually rain later into the day, morning showers are uncommon in Bangalore, after 2-3 weeks you'll get an idea on the frequency of the rain.

Also helpful note that works in my family, when it rains it generally starts from Yelahanka/makali/ chikballapur side and then moves through town, so i have relatives who stay that side and they ping when it starts raining, so that gives me a good heads-up that it'll take me 30-45mins for me to get back home without getting drenched.

So make a friend in northwest Bangalore, carry a jacket/umbrella at all times.

I just carry a raincoat if I have to step out in the evenings. Neither Google not Apple weather has been of any use with respect to the evening showers in Bangalore from my personal experience.

Use the app MeghaSandesha. It is from the Karnataka State National Disaster Management Centre. Very useful. Allows you to track storms, check waterlogging and gives near accurate rainfall levels in Bengaluru urban areas.

The reason imd and the like are not accurate for blr is because the urban scanner and rural scanner don’t have an overlap often leaving out crucial data that is required for an accurate prediction. Google weather and the such take data from govt sources afaik but since our source itself is bad… you’re outta luck

Here in Belize, the rainy season has been starting later and later. From what I've learned from some of the older folks, dry season ran from the beginning of the year through April and the rains arrived in May. Now, June is becoming the "normal" start of the rainy season.

Thankfully, dry season has been fairly mild this year, but last year was *fucking terrible*. It was hot as hell and everything was on fire. My wife and I spent several long nights making sure our house didn't burn down.

The earlier, the better. When I was there, Mumbai was (for a Westerner) nearly unbearable in the week before Monsoon. 

I did a slight boo-boo. When the rains started at 10 PM I went to the roof of my hotel wearing nothing but my bathrobe, found a quiet corner and drop said garment. The rain was a bit too hot but quite nice and smelled really great. It was an incredibly nice feeling.

Somehow I must have forgotten some cameras on the roof. Going back towards the stairs there was some hotel employee waiting for me with a towel and a dry bathrobe... I can really recommend the Sofitel Mumbai and the Monsoon.

The 2009 (earliest) monsoon only dropped about 75% of the average rain for the monsoon season, so I hope this time it will be "more normal" for the sake of agriculture

The severity of this is that, India exported a lot of agriculture products throughout the world and if the yeld is low and if like last time the government put a limit on exports suddenly everything gets expensive for everyone and some folks especially in the African nations especially face food shortages

True, usually these kinda thunderstorms and unseasonal activity is observed over eastern and north-eastern India. But because of back to back western disturbances the wind moisture pull out from both bay of bengal and arabian sea was humongous along with the one brought from WD. Thundercells literally formed as far as in Thar desert.

The reason for such wet weather is 

1)   At this time in India kaal Baisakhi (or summer thunderstorms or pre monsoon rains) are very common so rains at this time of year are common all-around India.

2)   It is bit intense this time due to a large sub-tropical cyclone that formed over Rajasthan-Gujarat because cold air in mid-level troposphere escaped the jet stream as it was weaking letting cold air enter into sub-continent of India........ point to be remember is that it always weakens during this time of year as this is the time of peak summer in northern hemisphere so jet stream often are twisted leaking air into lower latitudes and as these jet streams twist, they enhance low pressure system in this case our sub-tropical cyclone.

3)  Here the low-pressure system was given by WD travelling from Mediterranean Sea with humidity from the same sea and got the cold air as discussed and got strengthen due to weak meandering jet stream and thus creating rainy and wet climate for most part of Indian subcontinent. (humidity also came from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal too)   
  
4)   Point here to be noted is WD do travel to India this time of year and it's not uncommon to see them interacting this wildly... it's just everything was perfect this year in sync and a lot of climate change effects too that affected Indian subcontinent giving unprecedented amount of rain.

We don't really need a weather forecasting service in India for atleast 9 months a year. At least where I am. Except for during monsoon, most other days, we more or less can predict the weather ourselves.

Not forecast. But, in delhi, there is this site dpccairdata.com run by delhi govt., i use it for accurate temperature and pollution readings
